Researchers have found that there are only selected dairy products such as milk and yogurt that may be associated with higher bone mineral density (BMD) but only in the hip area (exclusive of the spine). Alcoholism does not only damage the liver, it can also reduce bone mineral density. Too much alcohol consumption can disrupt the bone renewal process and inhibit bone remodeling, leading to osteoporosis, or weak bones. This condition increases one’s risk for fractures.
